Ouch! (film)

Ouch! is the Rutles' second film, directed by Dick Lester (which is very near Rutland) and released in 1965, which starred the four Rutles; Ron Nasty, Dirk McQuickly, Stig O'Hara, and Barry Wom. The soundtrack was released in an album, also entitled Ouch!

The film was filmed in colour, on location, very expensively, not in London. The film received no home video release for nearly 42 years until March 2007, when a remastered version was finally put out on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Plot[]

In the film "Ouch!" the Rutles find a magical applecart while on holiday in Switzerland. They must protect this cart from a pagan aboriginal tribe who attempt to use the applecart to sacrifice Barry to their god, a giant apple called "Sagwa". Before a love quintdrilateral forms among Dirk, Nasty, Stig, Barry, and the tribe's princess who has too many names to fit in this text.

Reception[]

The film was positively received, but not to the extent of A Hard Day's Rut. On the review website Bitter Melon, it has a score of 89%.

Home Release[]

For over 46 years, no plan for a home release was made, until 2012, when it was announced that the multiple reels the film had been shot on had been discovered in a docking bay in England, where the film was edited. The film was remastered with deleted scenes and released on DVD and BluRay, after many years of waiting, in March 2014.
