It's Too Much Lunch is a song by The Rutles which first appeared on the Yellow Submarine Sandwich album. The song was written and sung by Stig O'Hara. First it was going to be released on the legendary Sgt. Rutter's only Darts Club Band, and then on Tragical History Tour, but it was delayed over, and over, and over, until the song found it's way into the 1969 soundtrack. It is one of the least known songs by Stig.
The original length of the song was about 18 hours (which would have been the longest recorded song in the group's history), but was cut down to about three minutes for the final edit. Producer Still Phector (who would assist in the band's later album "Let It Rot") was known to comment, "we essentially took out all the good parts of the song and left in the bad, but the Utopian Philharmonic Orchestra made it sound whole again".
