McQuickly is the debut album by Rutland musician Dirk McQuickly released in 1970 during the breakup of the Rutles.

BackgroundEdit

After Ron Nasty told Dirk he was leaving the Rutles privately, Dirk retreated to his home. Depressed and angry, he recorded McQuickly alone, with the help of Martini, who didn't sing. He played every single instrument, including electric and acoustic guitars, bass guitar, vocals, piano, drums, keyboard, saxophone, triangle, meccano train set, sharpsichord, and a stray cat. The album had a very basic approach, and many of the tracks had no lyrics.
